Welcome!

Welcome to the official website for the Blue Whale, located in Catoosa, OK on Historic Route 66. We are so excited that you are visiting our inaugural web page and hope that you enjoy it as much as we did while pulling it together. On this website we will attempt to guide you through the history of Blue and his creator, Hugh Davis. Hugh, along with his wife Zelta, had a vision and using their love and fascination for animals of all types, set out on a journey to educate as many children and adults as they could reach. This website, while focused mostly on the stately and iconic Blue Whale, will also show you the many facets of a brilliant and creative mind at work. Hugh and Zelta Davis, along with their two children, Blaine and Dee Dee, have given our community a treasure that continues to draw both young and old alike. It is our hope that this website will continue to evolve and grow so that you will always be able to find something new and interesting on every visit.

Who are we?
We are the Catoosa Arts & Tourism Society/Fins of the Blue Whale, a Not for Profit entity, self-tasked to preserve the Blue Whale and his family of unique and historical brethren, which include the ARK (Animal Reptile Kingdom), Nature’s Acres and the Mushroom Patch. All of these wonderful entities were created and built by Hugh Davis and his family. We are a group of volunteers that have either grown up with Blue, are transplants to the community and have fell in love with the big lug, or friends and family. All of us are linked by a common goal: to preserve both the physical structures and the history of their creation. We are group of like-minded individuals that are aware of having an American and Internationally known icon in our Community, and that it is a gift and will not be taken for granted.

What is our Mission?
To preserve the Blue Whale for future generations and to remind us all that art is a lightning rod for creativity and stimulates the gifts that are innate within us.

What can you do?
Volunteer! Volunteer your time, your ideas, your resources or all three, to help save the Art & History in your community. We are a very young country and have many things to be proud of. But in this hustle-bustle world we have allowed some of that history to deteriorate into dust and to be forever erased. While we still have some of our Americana to embrace, we need to come together and salvage what we can. We all have gifts that we can offer up to a good cause, and if you never share those gifts you are robbing the world of potential.

What is a Fin of the Blue Whale?
It’s quite simple really. If you love the Blue Whale you are a Fin. It doesn’t cost you anything except a warm thought towards Ol’ Blue. And if you send him a postcard of where you live, (& your return address) he may send one of his back to you.
